I've lived in Chino Hills my entire life. Whilst growing up, I attended Glenmeade Elementary School, Townsend Junior High School, and Chino Hills High School. For my undergrad, I attended Cal Poly Pomona and graduated in 2013 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design, as well as receiving a minor in English. I'm probably one of the biggest Harry Potter fans you'll ever met and a very, very proud Hufflepuff. I'm not ashamed to say I'm a One Direction fan and in my free time (the limited that I have) I like to read and write both fiction and fanfiction.
In regards to technology, I worked as a student web developer on campus at ASI before I graduated. Currently, I'm working at MediaVision as a multimedia designer and developer and am actually part of Cal Poly Pomona's web core team. So you could say I'm pretty well versed with technology. I'm a typical millennial in the sense that I'm probably too addicted to my smartphone (and various social media sites), but I like to think I am fairly good at still having a decent non-digital life as well.

Technology is such an integral part of student's lives, both in primary school and secondary school, that finding new and creative ways to get information to students is vital. Although I have experience in web, video, and graphic design, I am hoping to learn different techniques or styles to grow as a professional. One of my core beliefs is that we never stop learning and you never should stop wanting to learn.

ReplyDeleteHi Lindsey! It's great to meet a fellow multimedia designer and developer! I too feel that the more you know, the more you realize that there's more to know. It's never-ending. As it should be.
ReplyDeleteOnce in a while I'll get a client who has "a great idea for an instructional video" and that "It should be very easy." It seldom ever is. Educating them in the production process enlightens them, and ensures that everyone's expectations are met.
What aspects of your job do you find most challenging? Why is that?

DeleteHaha, oh yes, I recall having had people think that "oh, changing that portion of video shouldn't take long." Technically they are half right, but they forget to add in things like render time.
Hmm… I think one of the most challenging aspects is trying to put together a story whilst doing a promotional video. You get all these great interviews and try to string them all together in a short video to something that is cohesive; it can be frustrating at times. I love to write stories, but generally that's when I have control over the characters. :)

ReplyDeleteI love your core belief. That is something I definitely share in common with you. I am pretty proud of myself for going back to school to learn what else I can do with my career and hope that my students will benefit from it too. I'm hoping that when I talk to my students about my excitement for going back to school, that they will see how great school can be and that it's okay to enjoy learning.
